Some of us curious people don't know even the fact of Origin of our Country name as Bharat or Barat varsha.I am astonished that the most educated and literate person answer wrongly on this matter.Most of us are deceived by culprit and biased historians.It is been never taught correctly to us in the histroy books.Again we are cheated undoubtedly.Most of the historians say that Name "Bharat" or "Bharat varsha" is derivative of great emperor bharat.I am agree till this line only.Again the next question who was bharat? The learned historians says that he was son of Shakuntala and Dushyanta and conqueror of the whole earth.Some historians accepts the truth in hiding fashion that he was son of First Jain teerthankara Rishabha and brother of Bahubali(gommatesh).Bharat is the name and varsha means the empire.First we talk about Bharat son of Dushyant and Shakuntala.First i wan to draw you kind attention

1.)This bharat is only a fictional character of Great sanskrit epic written by kalidasa.Neither historicity nor existence has been proved about this bharat till now.Moreover Kalidasa existence time is also unknown to us.On the other hand Rishabh son Bharat is a historical figure and his existence is well proved by sculptures,Shrines,Pantheons and literature too.This bharat was conqueror of the world and called first chakravartin.His great idol is situated at the hill Chandragiri,Shravanbelagola.His historical temple was situated at Koodalmanikyam in Irinjalakuda is believed to have been among them. The belief is that it was dedicated to Bharat,(his statue can be seen in Shravanabelagola). Jainism declined in popularity in Kerala during the Saivite and Vaishnavite resurgence, and many Jain shrines, among them Koodalmanikkyam, became Hindu temples.Ratnakar kavi hailed from karnataka also wrote a great epic "Bhartesh vaibhav".

2.)Let us throw light on this subject by getting opinions Of old hindu canonical.The Vayu Puranas says he who conquers the whole of Bharata-varsa is celebrated as a samrāt (Vayu Purana 45, 86)however in some puranas, the term 'Bharat' refers to the whole Earth as Emperor Bharata is said to have ruled the whole Earth. Until the death of Maharaja Parikshit, the last formidable emperor of the Kuru dynasty, the known world was known as Bharata varsha.

According to the Puranas, this country is known as Bharatavarsha after the king Bharata Chakravarti. This has been mentioned in Vishnu Purana (2,1,31), Vayu Purana,(33,52), Linga Purana(1,47,23), Brahmanda Purana (14,5,62), Agni Purana ( 107,11-12), Skanda Purana, Khanda (37,57) and Markandaya Purana (50,41) it is clearly stated that this country is known as Bharata Varsha. Vishnu Purāna mentions:

ऋषभो मरुदेव्याश्च ऋषभात भरतो भवेत्भरताद भारतं वर्षं, भरतात सुमतिस्त्वभूत्

Rishabha was born to Marudevi, Bharata was born to Rishabh,Bharatvarsha (India) arose from Bharata, and Sumati arose from Bharata—Vishnu Purana (2,1,31)

ततश्च भारतं वर्षमेतल्लोकेषुगीयतेभरताय यत: पित्रा दत्तं प्रतिष्ठिता वनम (विष्णु पुराण, २,१,३२)

This country is known as Bharatavarsha since the times the father entrusted the kingdom to the son Bharata and he himself went to the forest for ascetic practices—Vishnu Purana (2,1,32)

The realm of Bharata is known as Bharātavarṣa in the Mahabhārata (the core portion of which is itself known as Bhārata) and later texts. The term varsa means a division of the earth, or a continent. [4] A version of the Bagavatha Purana says, the Name Bharatha is after Jata Bharatha who appears in the fifth canto of the Bagavatha.

- Vishnu Purana (2.3.1)[5][6]uttaraṃ yatsamudrasya himādreścaiva dakṣiṇamvarṣaṃ tadbhārataṃ nāma bhāratī yatra santatiḥ

उत्तरं यत्समुद्रस्य हिमाद्रेश्चैव दक्षिणम् ।वर्षं तद् भारतं नाम भारती यत्र संततिः ।।

"The country (varṣam) that lies north of the ocean and south of the snowy mountains is called Bhāratam; there dwell the descendants of Bharata."Biased Indian Historians deceived Indian subject by hiding truths,forgery and through fictional data.It is the issue which should be known to every Indian so he may identify his ancestral root.Bharat chakravartin who got liberation by grasping monk hood in Jainism is originator of this modern name bharat ganrajya of our great country.Be proud to it....
